I created this piece using discarded fishing rope and plastic that I found on West Wittering beach.
dimensions 16x16 inches
While regularly searching for sea glass, we also try and pick up as much micro plastic as we can. Even here, on one of England’s most beautiful beaches, plastic waste on an almost industrial scale continues to wash up, especially after high tides and storms.
I’ve decided to start using a selection of plastic that we find to create some pieces of art. I hope you like what I make and I will continue to beach clean while beach combing and I encourage you all to do the same.
All my work comes gift wrapped and framed.

The Final Straw Foundation is a registered UK charity (no. 1191500) working with local communities and businesses to highlight the impact of plastic pollution on our environment and to try to minimise the amount of plastic entering our local seas and wider oceans. We started in Emsworth, Hampshire in 2018 as a group of volunteers giving our time to help clean up our local community spaces and, in time, the surrounding areas.
